– ACUPUNCTURE –
About the Needles
Acupuncture needles come packaged, sterilized and are used only once. They are very thin. Nothing is on them or goes through them. They are nothing like needles used by physicians. Insertion of needles can be painless and often unnoticed or like a small pinch on first contact. Individual sensations follow. Words used to describe these sensations are “tingly”, “warm”, “heavy”,” moving”, “relaxing”, or “no feeling at all”. Initial sensations usually subside shortly after insertion. Patients often tell me how pleased they were with the comfort of their first acupuncture session.

How long do needles stay in?
Time can very from 5 minutes to 45 minutes. 20 to 30 is the most common length of time.
How will I feel?
Unlike pharmaceutical drugs that produce a limited effect, acupuncture can have an overall whole body effect. Specific symptoms are relieved along with a global feeling of wellness. My patients often remark how good they feel overall after a treatment along with relief from their specific symptoms. Most individuals find the acupuncture experience positive and relaxing. Acupuncture can relieve symptoms immediately or show improvement for days and weeks after a session. Follow up appointments are important to reinforce or continue the healing process.
How often should I come back?
More recent or acute problems can usually be resolved in 1 to 5 treatments
Chronic problems may take more time or may only respond with long term management.
I highly recommend acupuncture maintenance for general health and longevity as well as immune system enhancement. Acupuncture maintenance should be at least once a season (4 times a year) or more often if an individuals constitution shows the need.
– THERAPEUTIC BODYWORK –
What should I expect?
Bodywork is either a stand alone therapy or is performed in conjunction with massage or acupuncture. Bodywork consists of rhythmic acupressure, gentle and deep assisted stretches and energy balancing. Stretches relieve aching joints and muscles. Manipulations provide release of tension and restoration of energy. Bodywork will release fascia, improve flexibility, relieve stress and improve breathing leaving you feeling deeply relaxed and balanced.
